In the next week or two you will see a new version of iTransit appear here.

The new release is a complete rewrite of the iTransit engine, which will provide the following new features:

• Faster Page Loads
• Lower bandwidth consumption
• Caching of static data (lists/scheduled time)
• Full use of iPhone hardware acceleration

The new iTransit engine will make full use of the available iPhone features, including forced caching of javascript and images files (so it doesn't contact the server each time), and caching of lists like station names.

Additionally, there will be some new features added to the front end:

• Searching
• Bus Routes
• Traffic Conditions
• Favourites
• Bookmarkable sections
• Stop location maps and train location maps

Unfortunately this new release of iTransit will not support Firefox or Internet Explorer out of the box, this existing site, complete with additional data will still be available at http://mobile.itransit.com.au/ for non-safari browsers.
